We live in the western part of the state of North Dakota.

The western part of the state is known mostly for farming, ranching, oil production and excellant hunting and fishing.

This part of the state includes The Theodore Roosevelt National Park, The North Dakota Badlands, The Yellowstone River, The Little Missouri River, The Missouri River, The Lewis & Clark Trail, Lake Sakakawea, The Oil Fields, & Grasslands

My Great Grandparents on both sides of my family were immigrants from Norway and Germany, entering the US through Ellis Island NY, to Minnesota before coming to North Dakota.

My husband's Great Grandparents were immigrants from Norway, entering the US through Ellis Island NY  to Minnesota before coming to North Dakota, & from Ireland through Ellis Island NY, to New York, to Iowa, before coming to North Dakota.

Our Picture Gallery consists of pictures of the land we grew up in or near & the wildlife, wild flowers & farm animals. Also we have included several pictures from our neighboring states and the beauty they behold.

Our winters are harsh and cold, our summers can vary from extremely hot & dry to cold & damp.

Each & Every Picture we photographed, we are amateur photographers. There is a lot of wildlife we do not have photos of but hopefully they will be added later.

We hope you enjoy a look at the scenery and wildlife we love so much.

 North Dakota gets its name from the Dakota division of the Sioux Indians who lived on the plains before the Europeans arrived.

"Dakota" means "friend." French-Canadian soldier and fur trader Pierre Gaultier de Varennes was the first known white explorer to visit the home of the Dakota in 1738.

North Dakota was one of the last areas of the frontier to be settled by non-Native Americans, and even today, it's not a highly populated state.

Both rural and agricultural, with grain farms and cattle ranches, the state's coal and oil reserves are plentiful, and it also produces natural gas, lignite, clay, sand, and gravel.

State Capital: Bismarck, joined the Union in 1889 as the 39th state.
